A body of a man, suspected to have been murdered and dumped elsewhere, was discovered this morning (10) on the Homagama alternate road, police confirmed.

According to police reports, the deceased is believed to be approximately 35 years old. Preliminary observations indicate a head injury consistent with being struck by a weapon. Additionally, signs of a swollen neck and visible blood stains near the neck area were also noted.

The location where the body was found is part of an alternate road that remains unopened to the public and is known to be extremely dark during nighttime hours.

Investigators suspect that the man may have been killed at a different location and his body transported by vehicle before being dumped at the scene.

Crime Scene Investigation officers attached to the Nugegoda Police Division have commenced initial inquiries, while the Homagama Headquarters Police are continuing further investigations into the incident.
