Former Galle District Member of Parliament, Deputy Minister Mr Lionel Premasiri joined the Samagi Jana Balawegaya to support the opposition leader Mr. Sajith Premadasa. Sri Lanka Latest News
A former student of Galle Mahinda Vidyalaya, he is a lawyer by profession. He entered politics from the Sri Lanka Freedom Party and was appointed as the Mayor of Galle. Later, he joined the United National Party and was again elected as the Mayor of Galle.
Mr. Lionel Premasiri entered Parliament in 2004 representing the Galle district from the United National Party. He joined the United People’s Freedom Alliance from the United National Party due to political disagreements and served as the Deputy Minister of Social Services and Social Welfare during 2007-2010. He has also worked as Canada’s Deputy High Commissioner for some time.
