Test skipper Pat Cummins has won the race to take over from Aaron Finch and become Australia’s next ODI captain.
Finch called time on his ODI career during Australia’s recent home series against New Zealand and the Aussies have moved swiftly in announcing Cummins as his replacement.
Former skipper Ricky Ponting predicted Cummins would win the nod when speaking with Sanjana Ganesan recently on The ICC Review and the Australia great was proven correct.
Cummins will become Australia’s 27th ODI captain, with the right-arm quick to lead the country in 50-over cricket ahead of next year’s 2023 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup in India. (ICC)
