He pointed out that non-implementation of the recommendations given by the Auditor General’s Department is a serious problem and new laws should be brought to implement the recommendations given by the Department.

It is said that the amount spent annually by the government for conducting audit investigations is in crores.

Mr. Wickramaratne also stated that every government institution is bound to implement the recommendations given by the Auditor General’s Department.

Some institutions do not implement the decisions taken on behalf of the management or the recommendations given by the Auditor General’s Department.
