A special workshop aimed at leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) to transform Sri Lanka’s public service into a more efficient and effective system was held recently at Temple Trees.
Titled ‘AI for Transforming Public Service’, the workshop was attended by staff officers from the Presidential Secretariat. The initiative marks a key step in the government’s flagship program to digitize public services and foster a positive outlook on AI within the public sector.
The event commenced with an opening address by Dr. Hans Wijesuriya, Senior Advisor to the President on the Digital Economy. Sanjaya Karunasena, Executive Director of the Information and Communication Technology Agency of Sri Lanka (ICTA), also delivered brief remarks, emphasizing the importance of embracing digital transformation.
Following the addresses, Harsha Purasinghe and Samisa Abeysinghe, both Board Members of ICTA, conducted engaging awareness sessions. These included practical activities designed to deepen understanding and encourage hands-on learning of AI applications in public service.
The workshop was graced by several high-ranking officials, including Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake, Secretary to the President, and Roshan Gamage, Senior Additional Secretary to the President, along with a number of senior officials from the Presidential Secretariat.
