Archbishop Ranjith Malcolm officially requests that the President not appoint any of the Senior SDIGs as the IGP due to their tainted records while in service  I Sri Lanka Latest News

The Archbishop of Colombo Ranjith Malcolm has sent an official written message to the President not to appoint any of the Senior Inspectors of Police who have been confirmed in various investigations to have failed to prevent the Easter attack despite the basic information being revealed. Sri Lanka Latest News

News about this has been published in print as well as social media and a conversation has also emerged about Cardinal Thera’s intense attention.

Nilantha Jayawardena, who was the head of State Intelligence at the time of the Easter terrorist attack, and Deshbandu Tennakoon, who was the Senior Inspector General of Police in Colombo at the time, have been held accountable for not preventing the attack. There have been various reports that especially Deshabandu Tennakoon is completing the relevant political qualifications for the currently vacant post of Inspector General of Police.

Therefore, His Holiness the Cardinal has requested the President not to appoint these persons to the post of Inspector General of Police.
