A little girl aged 02 years 05 months has died after falling into a well in Kokawewa Dutuwewa area of Anuradhapura. (Sri Lanka Latest News)
Seeing the girl falling, the girl’s mother jumped into the well to save her putting her life at risk as well. The mother said that the girl fell into the well while giving milk to the child and she also jumped into the well to save her.
The girl was already dead by the time she was admitted to the hospital and the girl’s mother was admitted to the Anuradhapura hospital for further treatment.
The Kokawewa Police had started investigations on information that a mother and her little girl had been admitted to Galenbindunuwewa Hospital for treatment due to drowning yesterday (17th) evening.
The police said that the investigation revealed that the dead girl’s body was found floating in a cultivation well in Dutuwewa area, while her 31-year-old mother was hanging with the help of a rope from the well and both were taken ashore and admitted to the Galenbindunuwewa hospital.
The manner of the girl’s death has not yet been revealed and the Kokawewa Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
