Organizers say that the protest held today (22) in front of the Fort railway station against the new tax bill imposed by the government was successful.
It is said that this protest which was called in front of the Fort railway station at 12.00 today by the Union of Professionals, received the support of a number of professional unions representing various professions such as port, petroleum, electricity, health, information technology etc.
Representatives of many trade unions have addressed the protestors in this protest, which was attended by so many people that the main road was closed in front of Fort Railway Station, Colombo.
