A special meeting took place today between Dr. S.A Jayashankar and Opposition Leader Mr. Sajith Premadasa took place in this afternoon.
A number of bilaterally important matters were discussed there and opposition leader Mr. Sajith Premadasa asked for the continued support of the Indian government for the welfare of the entire people of Sri Lanka.
The leader of the opposition recalled the long-standing bilateral relations between the two countries and their friendly existence and emphasized that it should be strengthened day by day. The Indian Minister of External Affairs, Dr. S. A. Jayashankar and a delegation are in Sri Lanka for a two-day official visit.
