Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa says that although a small number of current government ministers who have held the positions of state ministers have expressed the opinion that President Ranil Wickramasinghe should be the candidate in the upcoming presidential election, it is not the opinion of the party, but once the vote is announced, the candidate of the Podu Jana Peramuna will be presented. After a ceremony held at the Nelligala International Buddhist Center in Kandy, he further emphasized that no matter what anyone says, the next president will be born from a broad alliance led by Podu Jana Peramuna.

Our people who are in the Cabinet with the President as well as those holding the positions of State Ministers are of the opinion that Mr. Ranil Wickramasinghe should be nominated for the Presidency. Others present other names. But we don’t have to worry about any of that.

Mr. Namal Rajapaksa said that his party has the freedom to present their own personal opinions and if other parties present opposite opinions in this way, even party membership will be banned.

Mr. Rajapaksa said that even though the opposition was upset that the speaker had signed the road safety bill, the speaker had signed it after it was passed in the parliament and if there was a problem, the speaker could discuss it with the attorney general and reach a decision.
