A police officer interrupted the sight-seeing lovers in Samanalwawa and forcibly removed the girl and molested her.

A police constable has been arrested for scaring a young woman who came to visit Samanala lake with her boyfriend and taking her to a forested area.

The suspect constable was arrested by the Samanala Lake Police on the 8th.

The arrested constable was presented to the Balangoda Magistrate’s Court yesterday and ordered to remand the accident until the 20th.

Meanwhile, the police said that the suspected police constable has been suspended and an investigation is underway against him.

An 18-year-old girl residing in an area adjacent to Samanalaweva area had come to Samanalaweva Ismatta with her boyfriend on the 8th.

There, a police officer who came on a motorcycle checked the boyfriend’s pockets and wallet, saying that he had drugs in his possession.

Then handcuffs were placed on one hand of the lover and the hand part of the handcuff was attached to the motorcycle and the girl was forcibly taken to the forest area.

A person who was in that area informed the Samanalawewa Police about this and the police immediately reached the spot.

It is also reported that the police constable had already stripped the young woman.

The police constable was arrested at that time and it has been revealed that he was a resident of Welioya area who was working attached to the Hambegamuwa Police in Monaragala division.
