Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa said that Israel’s invasion of Gaza City completely violates UN General Assembly Resolutions 241 and 338, which were adopted as part of the international consensus on a two-state solution, and that this aggressive action is strongly condemned. He added that what is happening today in Palestine is a massive genocide and a tragedy.

Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa made these remarks today in Parliament while expressing his views on the Palestine–Israel conflict.

He further said that hospitals are being bombed and destroyed, food supplies obstructed, and even famine created; that state terrorism is being carried out targeting children, mothers, and civilians; and that such state terrorism must be strongly condemned by all civilized nations. He also stressed that Sri Lanka should not be afraid to express its position in defense of human rights.

He pointed out that the Palestine–Israel conflict began in 1948 and continued through 1956, 1967, 1973, and 1978, and although the Camp David talks produced agreements and the international community agreed on a two-state solution through various accords, Israel has made it impossible to implement. Instead, he said, Israel is attempting to create one single state in place of two.
