A general manager of a well-known pharmaceutical company who came to Egoda Uyana, Moratuwa, left his property to his wife and children in a last will and committed suicide by jumping into the sea yesterday afternoon (12), Egoda Uyana Police say (Sri Lanka Latest News).
The deceased was a 53-year-old father of two named Upul Thusita Kumara, a resident of Maharagama area.

The dead person came home from his office last night (11) and mentioned in his last will how to divide the property in his name between his wife and two children, take off the gold ornaments he was wearing and give the money in the wallet and said that he wanted to die. Egodauyana Police say that it is mentioned in a statement made by the wife after being identified.
The police said that the son, who is studying in a school in the Colombo area, was dropped off at the school by the luxury car belonging to the company he works for, came near Jayanti Mawatha in Egoda Uyana area, stopped the car, walked around for a while and then went towards the beach, leaving the clothes he was wearing near the Vatkeiya barn and jumped into the sea. After about two and a half hours, the body of the General Manager was found dumped in the Vijitha Mawatha area, about four hundred meters from the place where he jumped into the sea, according to the information provided by the local residents.
The police say that when examining the footage of the CCTV camera installed in a building where the car was parked where the person was said to have arrived, it was recorded that the deceased got out of the car and walked towards the sea after waiting for a while.
An officer said that after the recovery of the dead body, the person’s stomach filled with water started to cover his mouth in the form of sputum, so several people started to say that he was alive, so he was immediately taken to the Panadura Base Hospital, but the doctors declared him dead.
The police further stated that information was revealed from the residents that the deceased was suffering from some medical condition.
The Acting Magistrate of Moratuwa Court Mr. Gayan Perera came to the scene of the incident and conducted investigations. Investigations are being conducted on the instructions of Inspector Anil Masakorala, the OIC of Egodauyana Police.
