A 30-year-old fisherman’s father was arrested by the Aluthgama police yesterday (August 16) for stealing a can of baby milk powder worth 3,100 rupees from a supermarket in Aluthgama.
He told the police while crying that he stole the can of milk powder to quench the hunger of his one year and eight month old child.
When the suspect father went to the supermarket and took the can of milk powder and tried to hide it in the shirt he was wearing, a female employee saw the incident and alerted a security officer who was there and caught the suspect father and handed him over to the police.
