A 22-year-old chain thief was fatally shot by police in Negombo.

One person has died after the police shot at two people who were fleeing on a motorcycle after stealing a gold necklace in Andiambalam area of ​​Negombo.

Today (23rd) at around 2.30 pm near the clock tower in Negombo, two persons who came on a motorcycle were fleeing after committing some robbery, the police chased them.

There, the people on the motorcycle shot at the police, and one person who was traveling on the motorcycle lost his life while retaliating.

A 22-year-old youth has lost his life in this way, said Police Media Spokesman, Senior Superintendent of Police, Mr. Nihal Talduwa.

Another injured 25-year-old man has been admitted to Negombo Hospital and he is a resident of Mirigama area.
