A 15-year-old schoolboy who ran away from home due to his parents’ cruelty was apprehended by police at Hatton railway station  I Sri Lanka Latest News

A 15-year-old school student who ran away from home after being attacked by his mother and father and stayed at the Hatton railway station has been taken into custody by the Hatton police this morning (19). (Sri Lanka Latest News)

This school student, a resident of Anuradhapura, was taken into police custody when he got off at Hatton railway station on the night mail train running from Colombo Fort to Badulla.

He has said that his parents reside in Anuradhapura area and he studied at his grandmother’s house in Panadura area.

This student has told the police that his parents also withdrew him from the school when he was studying in the 10th year.

After that, the student further mentioned to the police that while staying at his house in Anuradhapura area and at his grandmother’s house in Panadura area, his father pressured him to leave the house.

The student has further stated that he was brutally beaten on those occasions and unable to bear the torture of his mother and father, he came by train from Anuradhapura to Colombo Fort on the 17th.

He has also stated that he boarded the Badulla train by mistake to go to his grandmother’s house in Panadura.

The student has told the police that he is unable to return home due to torture from his mother and father.

It is stated that the school student who was taken into police custody was referred to the forensic doctor at Dik Oya Primary Hospital after several injuries were observed on his body which were suspected to have been assaulted.

Arrangements are being made to hand over the student to the Hatton Magistrate’s Court through probation, and arrangements have also been made to inform the guardians of the student to come to the Hatton Police.
