The health unions have decided to go on a continuous strike again from May 09. Sri Lanka Latest News

In relation to the non-fulfillment of economic justice, the Alliance of Health Trade Unions of 72 trade unions took a professional action 4 months ago.

It was then temporarily suspended until the month of April based on the written promise to provide Dimana as per the technical report prepared by the Ministry of Health.

However, the co-convener of the Alliance of Health Trade Unions, Mr. Chanaka Dharmawickrama said that the promise has not been properly fulfilled so far and he decided to enter into a professional action.

Accordingly, considering the impact on the patients, instead of starting a nationwide strike action, it has been decided to start the professional action of leaving all hospitals and health institutions in the province from 09.

The details of the hospitals implementing the professional action are given below.

09 – North Central Province
13 – Central Province
14 – Sabaragamuwa Province
15 – North West Province
16 – Southern Province
20 – Uva province
21 – The strike action will be implemented in Western Province etc.
