The Department of Examinations has issued instructions for students sitting for the Advanced Level Examination who are unable to reach their designated examination centres due to severe weather conditions. Such students are advised to proceed to the nearest examination centre to ensure they can take their exams without disruption.
Commissioner General of Examinations Amit Jayasundara stated that students facing roadblocks caused by flooding have been granted the flexibility to attend the nearest examination centre to continue their examinations.
The ongoing adverse weather conditions have caused widespread flooding across the island, obstructing several roads and disrupting traffic. In light of this, the Commissioner General has urged students encountering difficulties to contact the Disaster Management Centre via its 24-hour hotline, 117, for assistance.
To address these challenges, the Disaster Management Centre has been tasked with providing necessary facilities to support students during this period. Additionally, examination centres have been instructed to accommodate any delays resulting from traffic disruptions caused by the extreme weather.
Commissioner General Jayasundara emphasized that all possible measures are being implemented to ensure that students can complete their examinations despite the prevailing circumstances.
