The Indian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, Mr. Santhosh Jha, held a meeting with Presidential Secretary Dr. Nandika Kumanayake today (22) at the Presidential Secretariat.

The discussions prioritized the ongoing fishing disputes in the northern waters, with both sides stressing the importance of finding a long-term resolution to the challenges faced by fishermen from both countries. Strengthening cooperation to address these issues was a key point of the talks.

In addition, the meeting explored strategies for tackling common challenges shared by Sri Lanka and India. The officials reviewed the progress of various Indian-funded projects currently underway in Sri Lanka, particularly those financed through Indian loans. Both parties agreed on the urgency of accelerating the completion of these projects to ensure they are finalized within the planned timelines.
