Ranil’s Endorsement of Anura Backfires
Final week
The presidential election has entered its decisive final week, with all major candidates playing their final strategic cards while closely following predictions from intelligence agencies and respected organizations’ opinion polls.
Over the past few months, through the “Inside Politics” column, we have responsibly shared opinion poll results from these trusted sources. Unlike previous years, these findings faced no opposition or claims of inaccuracy, which highlights the credibility of the polls we presented, backed by reliable sources.
Our readers were consistently provided with information from trustworthy sources, including weekly reports from intelligence services and a globally recognized rating agency respected by all major political parties, multinational corporations, and diplomatic missions in Sri Lanka.
While we delivered accurate election-related findings, some others, motivated by bias and undisclosed interests, spread false information. Several political parties fell for these claims, presenting them on campaign stages and assuring their candidate’s victory. However, we disproved these false claims using intelligence data gathered from across the country and verified by expert teams, ensuring pinpoint accuracy.
Well known ‘PepperCube’
One of our main sources, ” PepperCube,” is a well-established and highly respected organization that has operated in the country for over 25 years. This private professional body conducts opinion polls and business research, and their findings are known for their accuracy and reliability. The industry trusts “Paper Cube” for its integrity.
In the “Inside Politics” column, we have always presented findings from reputable organizations, not polls conducted for personal agendas or with unreliable methods. We believe that in just one week, the accuracy of the findings we’ve shared will become clear to everyone.
Final Results
We are now preparing to disclose the findings from the final survey reports conducted by various agencies and intelligence services. The results show that the Samagi Jana Balawega, led by Mr Sajith Premadasa, is clearly in the lead, with an estimated 40% of the vote. In second place is the National People’s Force, headed by Mr Anura Dissanayake, with 30% of the vote, trailing Mr Premadasa by 10%. President Ranil Wickremesinghe ranks third, securing 7% of the vote. Mr. Namal Rajapaksa is in fourth place, also with 7%.
Additionally, another report, attributed to a lesser-known intelligence service with limited political influence, has also reached the ‘Inside Politics’ column. According to this report, Sajith is expected to receive 38% of the votes, Anura 28%, Ranil 10%, and Namal 7%.
Silent votes for Namal?
it is noted another mysterious situation that has not been caught by all these opinion polls in this presidential election. That is because Namal’s percentage of votes has not yet been calculated. When asked about the presidential election many people at the village level, point out that a large number of people who voted for Pohottuwa so far are very quiet. They do not publicly mention in any way who they are voting for. The main reason for that is the fact that the members of Pohottuva are very quiet due to Gota’s government period and ‘aragalaya’ due to the opinion created within the society.
Therefore, many people have a serious problem with identifying Namal’s voter base. Due to this, there is a possibility that Namal will get an unexpected vote sometimes. The reason is that there are still a large number of people who love Mahinda in the villages. If so, it will be possible to see some difference in the third and fourth positions.
8 Districts Neck to Neck
In addition, the opinion polls from this final phase suggest potential changes in the final results across several districts. Notably, in Colombo, Gampaha, Kalutara, Galle, Matara, Hambantota, Anuradhapura, and Polonnaruwa—where the National People’s Force (Malimawa) has seen momentum in recent weeks—there have been reports of a shift in favorability due to changes over the past two weeks.
A close 50-50 contest between the Samagi Jana Balawega (SJB) and Malimawa has been reported in Galle, with similar situations in Gampaha and Kalutara, largely due to Sajith Premadasa’s significant gains in these districts over the last two weeks.
In the Colombo District, areas under the Colombo Municipal Council such as Central, North, South, West, and East Colombo, as well as Borella, Dehiwala-Mount Lavinia, and Kolonnawa, are highly favourable for Sajith. However, constituencies in the Kelani Valley, including Kaduwela, Maharagama, Homagama, Kesbewa, and Avissawella, lean strongly towards Malimawa, and these areas have a larger voter base. In both Colombo and Gampaha districts, a tight contest between Malimawa and Sajith has emerged.
Who wins Jaffna?
While this kind of situation can be seen in the south, the situation in the north is completely different. Especially if we take Jaffna, there is a fight between Sajith and Ranil. It has been reported from the opinion polls that either Sajith or Ranil can win.
However, Malimawa has shown a rapid increase in its voting percentage from 23% to 33% in the past period. That is, there is a place called ‘Peak One’, the highest level that a certain candidate or party can reach in any election. Accordingly, this 33% voting percentage is the ‘peak’ of the compass. It has been pointed out that Malimava cannot exceed 33% no matter what changes are made. But Sajith, Ranil and Namal are yet to reach their peak and they will secure their final positions through various strategies in the final week, it is said.
Sajith surge ahead
In addition, another significant observation from these surveys is that the percentage of undecided voters has dropped to 10%. At the start of the presidential campaign, this figure was as high as 35%, but it has now decreased to below 10%, which is notable. According to the surveys, Sajith is expected to win by a wide margin in the districts of Kandy, Ampara, Trincomalee, Batticaloa, Vanni, Mannar, and Nuwara Eliya. However, it’s worth noting that no candidate is predicted to secure more than 50% of the vote. This suggests a strong likelihood of second-preference counting. That said, Sajith remains the closest candidate to achieving 50% of the vote.
These results come from surveys conducted by various reputable agencies and intelligence services. We have consistently shared these findings in the ‘Inside Politics’ column, acknowledging the risk, because there has been a strong correlation between the outcomes of these polls and the final results in the past 25 years of elections. There is little debate or controversy over the results, as political parties, politicians, and embassies are generally aware of them. However, the level of political awareness among voters in different sectors determines whether they accept these projected outcomes. The accuracy of these results will be confirmed within the next 7 days.
How a wave created
The compass cannot be underestimated a certain upsurge has been created for them within the country. Therefore, wherever they go, many people say that ‘we are for the compass, we are for the compass’. Because of this, many people think that the compass will win. Because of that, these days, some groups on social media have been seen reacting to other parties in a very harsh manner. Especially if an anti-compass statement or photo or post is published, it can be seen that they are attacked at the same time. At times, a very organized and harsh response can also be seen here. It can also be seen that Facebook has been drawn towards terrorism.
Targets for compass
However, since the leaders of Malimave have some understanding regarding the final result of the presidential election, they could be seen launching some plans to change this situation last week. Accordingly, they planned a special operation targeting the districts of Ampara, Trincomalee, Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Badulla and Jaffna. A target of raising the voting percentage to 10% in each district was given to the organizers of the respective constituencies last week. Apart from this, Malimawa also took steps to send more teams from Colombo to those districts. They planned the campaign accordingly.
Can get 10%?
However, in terms of the election campaign, although the compass is at a very strong level, the information we have says that it is very difficult for them to get even 10% in these districts. Because the vote in those provinces is determined based on other reasons. There is a big mismatch between the reasons for which the people of those provinces vote and the policies of the Compass. Accordingly, it is believed by many that even if Malimawa gets a certain number of votes from these areas compared to the previous elections, it will not exceed 10%.
A setback for Ranil
In this way, while Sajith and Anura have launched a sharp battle for their respective positions, the most serious collapse of the election campaign has been seen from Ranil’s side in the last two weeks. It is based on certain decisions made by the President and certain statements made by the President during the election campaign. Accordingly, with the confirmation that the president would be a loser this time, the government did not see any planning in the election campaign and have missed out the village. Apart from two or three districts like Colombo, Jaffna and Gampaha, no planned election campaign on the part of the President was seen at the village level in any other district. The beginning of this collapse was marked when the president said ‘Sajith is losing, Anura is winning’ in a meeting held in Mahiyangana. Through that, it was seen that the opinion that the President secretly supports Anura so far has been confirmed.
It was further confirmed by last week because SJB had pointed out that Anura’s manifesto was printed by a printing house belonging to the President’s family. Also, the day before the postal vote was announced, the opposition started talking about this Ranil-Anura marriage by bringing Anura Kumara through a state channel and giving him more than 3 hours of air time. Because of this, the opinion that Ranil and Sajith were getting together, which was initially carried by the compass side, finally turned into a cross between them and Ranil and Anura got together.
Inside conflict
Also, the internal conflicts within the government have turned violent. Last week, the president decided to remove 9 MPs from Pohottuwa from the positions of state ministers, especially due to the lack of trust in the ministers of the government. Despite saying that they were with the President through that, there was serious doubt among the MPs who are loyal to the President whether the Ministers of Pohottuwe were really with the President. In addition to this, there is also news that even some ministers within the government have expressed their frustration at several places due to the statements made in favor of Anura. It has been seen that the revelations we have made in the last few weeks that this kind of situation may arise soon due to the unorganized election campaigns carried out by the government in the country and their lack of formal coordination have been confirmed.
7 becomes 40 now
About two weeks ago, in another special disclosure, we said that 7 ministers of the government secretly went to meet Basil and held a special round of discussions. According to the information we have at the moment, this number has increased to 40 by now. The seniors in the government are also included, and it is known that they have met Mahinda and Basil and held several rounds of discussions last week.
Basil changes strategy
However, it seems that instead of bringing Namal to third place in the presidential election battle, Basil is changing his strategy and leaving more room for the general election that will follow the presidential election. Especially in light of the reports that no one will be able to get a majority in the first round of this year’s presidential election, Basil has planned to bring out new faces and run as a new party in the next general election. Because of this, Basil has informed the senior ministers of the government who are coming to meet Basil these days to aim for the general election after the presidential election and rejoin Pohottuwa.
Arundika lost
Under such an atmosphere, none other than Arundika Fernando faced a serious problem last week. Even though Arundika declared independence in the parliament, Arundika has fallen to a place where there is no way out due to the refusal to accept him by SJB or Pohottuwa. Meanwhile, an investigation has been started by the police based on a financial fraud charge against Arundika. Last week, steps were taken to get a 5-hour statement from him regarding this allegation.
However, Arundika recently held a special discussion with SJB. Arundika told the seniors that 20 to 25 MPs in the government think that the decision to go ahead with Ranil was wrong. Arundika also said that those 25 MPs are willing to join the party if given an opportunity. But SJB is currently in a position that they will not allow them to join the party. According to the news, about 25 MPs in the government are in a situation where they are neither here nor there.
Why Gita?
Although Arundika was overlooked, the party leaders made a significant addition last week by welcoming Geetha Kumarasinghe, a former state minister. The main reason Arundika was left out, while Geetha was included, is her reputation for being a clean figure in politics, never having faced accusations of corruption. Despite her fame as a popular film actress, Geetha has a long-standing political background, having consistently aligned with left-wing politics. Unlike many artists who switch allegiances for personal gain, Geetha remained loyal to the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP), firmly positioned in the left camp. This loyalty earned her a place among other left-leaning political artists like Wimal Kumara de Costa, Vijaya Kumaratunga, and Suvinita Weerasinghe. Geetha never joined the U.N.P. or engaged in right-wing politics.
Additionally, while she was an artist, Geetha had her assets and was financially well-off due to her marriage to a Swiss businessman. She also held Swiss citizenship, but she renounced it for the sake of her political career. When the SJB leadership decided to bring her on board, they considered her political history. This is why Geetha, representing Galle, appeared on the SJB stage in Kandy to support Sajith Premadasa.
Geetha’s decision was not based on personal gain but stemmed from the President’s endorsement of Anura. Particularly, after the President publicly stated that Sajith would lose and that he could not defeat Anura, Geetha distanced herself from the President, despite having initially supported him unconditionally.
Moreover, another key factor that influenced Sajith to welcome Geetha into his camp was her appreciation of his father’s contributions to the arts during his presidency, regardless of political affiliations. Sajith remembered how Geetha put aside her leftist views to recognize Ranasinghe Premadasa’s efforts, which further motivated him to bring her onto his platform while declining Arundika’s involvement.
Anura’s illness
Last week, a special meeting of Malimawe was organized in Galle, and JVP leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake was scheduled to be the chief guest. But suddenly a message received from Colombo said that Anura would not attend the meeting in Galle on that day and that JVP General Secretary Tilvin Silva would address the meeting instead of Anura. As soon as this news was received, everyone looked for the reason, but they could not find any reason for it. But in the end, they got to know the reason behind his absence from Tilvin. Tilvin said that Anura had taken a short break due to illness. But Tilvin did not say what illness Anura was suffering from. Therefore, the people present also had some curiosity about this.
This curiosity doubled due to several medical reports related to Anura’s illness published on social media within 24 hours. There was a copy of a diagnosis report issued in Anura’s name by a private hospital, and it mentioned a certain medical condition, and it was stated that Anura had got treatment for it. Although it is not yet confirmed whether this diagnosis report is true or false, a lot of publicity on social media was given for this.
In the past, political leaders such as Ranil, Sajith and Namal have been targeted by these kinds of smear campaigns on social media, but they do not respond to them. But from the side of JVP, it was seen that this incident was not taken as a normal one, with the immediate response given by the party. Accordingly, Malima leaders who made a special statement to the media said that this is completely unethical and that they would take legal action against the hospital authorities who gave the relevant medical records to other parties.
A big revelation about Range
Meanwhile, this column learned that a massive revelation is to be announced in a few days targeting Range Bandara, who was a strong member of the UNP. Recently, various news were published about Range Bandara and some reports said that he has been removed from the post of General Secretary of UNP. Also, during the last two weeks, it was not seen that Range Bandara was engaged in the election campaign activities of the President. During the investigation, it was learned that Range has refrained from appearing in public since a serious revelation about him is to be released in the next few days.
Aragalaya robbed?
After the last ‘aragalaya’ season, a lot of politicians’ houses were burnt, and then they had to pay a lot of compensation. In getting this compensation, some people also got to see how the ‘aragalaya’ had become a source of wealth. It is also news that some ministers have defrauded the public money in a big way while getting compensation. We feel that the fraud is so serious that it is an unforgivable level of fraud and corruption. Accordingly, we have given this hint because a controversial revelation related to this kind of incident is tipped to be released within the next few days.
A top-secret file related to that has now come into the hands of a leader of the opposition, and he is ready to reveal it two or three days before the presidential election, according to the ‘inside politics column’ they have come to know that various news such as ‘Range was sacked as UNP General Secretary’, ‘Range has left UNP’ etc. were published to suppress this controversial revelation.
The decision of the Tamil Alliance
The Tamil National Alliance in the North has confirmed on many occasions that it will support the opposition leader Mr. Sajith Premadasa in this year’s presidential election. Thus, the Tamil Alliance had to continuously confirm this fact in the face of the propaganda carried by certain groups in the South and certain media that a big disagreement had arisen in the Tamil National Alliance in supporting Sajith. They said there that the leader of the party, Mawei Senadhiraja, has protested against this decision, and because of this, the party’s central working council will meet again this week to discuss the candidate the party will support.
However, with this news reported by the southern media, the Tamil Alliance issued a special press release last week. The Party General Secretary issued a statement, which was issued in the presence of Mr Dharmalingam, stating that there were no further discussions and that the party had already decided to support Sajith and there was no change in that decision.
In addition, Mr Sumanthiran also issued a special Twitter message in this regard. Quoting this false news published in a well-known channel in the South, Sumanthiran mentioned that this is misleading news and the party has already decided to support Sajith.
Who threw money?
Meanwhile, a special secret behind several minor Tamil parties in the north jointly presenting a common candidate despite the opposition of the Tamil Alliance has been uncovered. It is said that behind the presentation of a candidate from the north is a certain Tamil businessman who is showing a good face to the north as well as to the south. It is said that he owns a TV channel and several other media outlets. The news is that he has given the necessary financial allocations for the presentation of this independent candidate, and it has been done to prevent Sajith from getting votes in the north in a way that benefits the president.
Apart from this, it has been learned that this businessman has done a lot of work to support the Tamil candidate Sridharan, who is the head of the Tamil Alliance. Apart from him, a well-known businessman named Baskaran is also behind this operation.
Message to Sajith
Last week, when there was a big conversation about a Ranil-Anura secret deal in the political arena, behind the scenes an operation to bring Ranil and Sajith together was launched. Harin Fernando had made a great effort on the part of the UNP. Messages were sent to SJB General Secretary Ranjith Maddumabandara and several young MPs including Harin and others who tried to bring the two parties together by saying that Anura was ahead, but the SJB team rejected all those invitations outright.
However, when different proposals were coming to SJB from Harin’s side, SJB was receiving the same kind of news from several other parties. The same kind of news from different quarters said nothing but that Anura is now leading and if Ranil Sajith does not join, Anura will win. For this operation, it was seen that personnel from several fields including various businessmen, various politicians, and heads related to the media sector have been used. Accordingly, this news was reported to us. At the time we received the information, knowing the real information, we dismissed the information, but some parties believed it with their whole heart. Because this information has been disseminated to the local level of society through various parties, we have also been approached by various people and asked about it.
All revealed
Accordingly, we also immediately investigated the operation to bring this same type of news to the public through different parties, who were the people behind it, where the operation took place, who prepared the operation, who distributed the information, etc. Accordingly, we were able to find all the missing starting points of this operation. we are ready to expose all those behind it to this country’s people with their names after the presidential election.
In the same way, a few weeks ago we revealed information through the column about the deals being done secretly by well-known businessmen in society. By now we are getting a lot of information about them.
In addition, we currently have information on the secret operations carried out to create conflicts within the SJB election campaign. We have all the information, especially who planned to boo Mr Rauf Hakeem when he was speaking on the Akurana stage, planned an attempt to create disturbance in Mr Kabir Hashim’s Mawanella meeting, etc. After the presidential election, we would expose all these people with names regardless of their rank, because the true face of some who are showing good face to the country should be exposed.
