The Sunday Times reports that 208 of the 225 people’s representatives representing the Parliament have disclosed their educational qualifications, but 17 have not submitted their educational qualifications.

The newspaper has obtained this information under the Freedom of Information Act.

Believing that the public has the right to know the educational and professional qualifications of the elected representatives, the Information Commission has ordered the Secretary General of the Parliament to release the relevant information.

Accordingly, 208 MPs have disclosed their educational and professional qualifications and the number of MPs who have not provided relevant information is 17.

Among the MPs who have not disclosed their educational and professional qualifications are Wimal Weerawansa – Johnston Fernando – Mahindananda Aluthgamage – Rohitha Abeygunawardena – Yadamani Gunawardena – Gevidu Kumaratunga, S Vialendran – Pillayan – Mahinda Rajapaksa – Kumara Welgama – Piyal Nishantha.

The newspaper reports that relevant information can be obtained through the Parliament website.
