Meet IGCSE Buddy- an Artificial Intelligence (AI)-powered exam preparation platform by Tutopiya, the online learning provider trusted by over 100,000 students across eight countries. As part of Tutopiya’s “GoGlobal: Sri Lanka” initiative, IGCSE Buddy will integrate with schools across Sri Lanka to help drive academic success.

Recently implemented at Leeds International School, IGCSE Buddy will support 181 students and 36 teachers in preparing for the competitive Pearson Edexcel IGCSE and A-level board exams in May and June 2025. With 14 branches nationwide, Leeds International School, is GoGlobal’s first Sri Lankan partner, and the first to benefit from the platform’s extensive toolkit and highly personalized approach.

“We have been following new developments in ed-tech that can support academic excellence as our students prepare for exams,” says Malithi Jayatissa, Director – Leeds International School “IGCSE Buddy is an excellent fit for us. The GoGlobal team here in Sri Lanka have closely supported us to ensure our teachers and students are fully onboarded on to the platform.”

“IGCSE Buddy is a game changer for students. It identifies learning gaps and leverages AI to help bridge them. We have witnessed a 30-40% improvement in exam grades on average as students leverage the platform,” says Nuha Ghouse, founder of Tutopiya. “It also equips teachers and school administrators with custom tools to ensure overall academic rigour and a well-prepared exam cohort for success.”

The platform provides a timely solution for the pressure that schools, students, and parents face in the lead-up to competitive exams such as the IGCSEs and IALs. Many schools in Sri Lanka face challenges in recruiting experienced teachers trained in the Cambridge and Edexcel curricula, constrained by limited resources and overstretched by extensive syllabuses, leading for the system to fall back on expensive tuition services.

How can students benefit from IGCSE Buddy?

Unlike standard exam preparation platforms, IGCSE Buddy offers personalized insights with AI-powered tools. It assesses the student’s strengths and weaknesses using an advanced diagnostic tool, and develops a personalized study plan to bridge any gaps in learning. Students have access to over 100,000 past-paper questions to attempt with customized feedback on incorrect answers (offering concept clarity) and guidance through workings and keywords.

The platform offers an extensive database of revision notes and tutorial videos covering the latest syllabus. Further, IGCSE Buddy addresses an important variable in exam success, simulating exam conditions by monitoring time taken on assessments and providing reports on the student’s time management.

Can school administrators and teachers benefit too?

The platform offers ample teaching resources, including slides, flashcards, assessments, real-time past paper quizzes and interactive classroom learning material, saving valuable time in the lead-up to exams.

The platform offers dashboards that analyse cohort and individual-level performance by score and timing across all topics in the syllabus – empowering educators to take data-driven interventions ahead of exams.

For the cost of a single hour of private tuition, a monthly subscription of IGCSE Buddy provides unlimited access to up to 11 IGCSE and five A-level subjects. GoGlobal: Sri Lanka has launched with a limited time offer to support schools in preparation for the upcoming May/June 2025 exams. This includes in-person/online exam seminars, weekly global quizzes with exciting prizes, real-time analytical dashboards for schools, spotlight on the school’s commitment to IGCSE excellence, and awards and certifications for teachers and students.
