Yoshitha Rajapaksa, who is reported to have served as a Lieutenant in the Sri Lanka Navy, has been summoned to appear before the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) on June 16 for questioning regarding his participation in a naval training programme in Britain outside the legally prescribed process.
According to reports, the Commission is expected to question Rajapaksa in connection with several complaints received against him following his enlistment in the Sri Lanka Navy on December 14, 2006.
The investigation has been initiated under the Anti-Corruption Act after complaints alleged that the educational qualifications considered for his admission to the Navy, as well as the foreign training courses he received during his naval service, were obtained in violation of the law.
