The Divisional Secretaries and Assistant Divisional Secretaries Association of Sri Lanka has announced that Divisional Secretaries and Assistant Divisional Secretaries will not participate in any meetings scheduled on Mondays, which have been designated as Public Days, with effect from tomorrow (08).
The Association stated that the decision was taken in light of the inconvenience caused to both Divisional Secretariats and the public due to various ministries, government institutions, and political authorities conducting physical and online meetings on Mondays, despite the day being reserved for public services.
According to Public Administration Circular No. 27/2023, Divisional Secretaries and Assistant Divisional Secretaries are required to remain in their offices on Public Day to address issues and concerns raised by members of the public who visit them. The circular also instructs that no official meetings should be held on that day.
Accordingly, after considering all relevant factors, the Association has decided to refrain from participating in meetings held on Mondays from tomorrow onward.
Chairman of the Divisional Secretaries and Assistant Divisional Secretaries Association of Sri Lanka, Mr. R. Senthil, confirmed that the decision was taken following a review of the situation and its impact on public service delivery.
