A proposal to fully renovate the house of former LTTE leader Velupillai Prabhakaran, located in the Valvettithurai area of Jaffna, and hand it over to his sister has been unanimously approved by the Valvettithurai Pradeshiya Sabha.
The proposal was submitted to the council by Valvettithurai Pradeshiya Sabha member M.K. Sivajilingam, who is Prabhakaran’s brother-in-law. He is also known for annually marking Prabhakaran’s birthday by cutting a cake in front of the house.
Presenting the proposal to the council, Sivajilingam stated that the houses of many world leaders are renovated and preserved for future generations, and therefore, the house commonly referred to as Prabhakaran’s house should also be fully renovated.
He further noted that renovating the house to ensure its protection and long-term preservation and subsequently handing it over to Prabhakaran’s sister would be an appropriate course of action. The motion presented in this regard was unanimously approved by the council.
