The Presidential Commission of Inquiry, appointed to investigate alleged acts of corruption, fraud, criminal breach of trust, misuse or abuse of power, government resources and privileges, illegal recruitment and appointments, violations of procurement guidelines, irregularities in the rental or lease of immovable or movable property, litigation and settlements conducted outside proper procedure, and serious losses or damages caused to government assets or revenue, has officially begun calling for public complaints and information.
In accordance with Section 2 of the Commission of Inquiry Act No. 17 of 1948 (Chapter 393), as amended, the Commission was established by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake under Extraordinary Gazette No. 2469/08 dated 30th December 2025. Its office is located at No. 152, Galle Road, Colombo 03.
The Commission is chaired by former High Court Judge, Advocate Piyasena Ranasinghe. Its other members are Mr. E.R.M.S.H. Ekanayake of the Sri Lanka Accountancy Service (Grade 1) and Mr. D.S. Wickramasinghe, former Senior Superintendent of Police.
The Commission’s mandate includes inviting and receiving public complaints, information, and other matters concerning serious allegations against individuals who have held or continue to hold political office, public servants, officers of statutory bodies, suppliers of goods and services, and both public and private institutions. It is also empowered to consider offences not specifically listed above if they appear to be of a serious nature. The Commission will conduct prompt, impartial, and comprehensive investigations into such complaints and allegations, and submit recommendations regarding actions to be taken against responsible individuals or institutions, along with measures to prevent the recurrence of such offences.
The Commission is required to submit its first interim report within three months and a final report containing conclusions and recommendations to the Secretary to the President within six months.
Individuals, organizations, and institutions are invited to submit written complaints or information in Sinhala, Tamil, or English to the Secretary of the Commission at No. 152, Galle Road, Colombo 03. All complaints must be submitted by 23rd February 2026 and should include the name, address, contact number, and National Identity Card or passport number of the complainant. Those who wish to remain anonymous may request that their identity be withheld.
