Residents of Moragollagama village in Kekirawa staged a protest in front of the Kekirawa Police Station after providing information about drug traffickers, alleging that the police were sharing their information with the traffickers.
Following the protest, the group proceeded to the office of the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) in Anuradhapura, where they lodged a formal complaint with the DIG in charge of the North Central Province.
The protesters further stated that Lionel Nissanka Kumara, a resident of Moragolla village, who was injured in an attack by an illegal drug trafficker in the village, is currently receiving treatment at the Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital.
