Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa, speaking in Parliament today, stated that he had questioned the Prime Minister on January 8 regarding the actions being taken concerning the murder of Lasantha Wickremesinghe. While refraining from analyzing the government’s recent measures—citing potential impacts on judicial proceedings—he emphasized the need for a transparent investigation into the case.
Premadasa stressed that justice must be served for Wickremesinghe’s family and the broader journalist community. He urged the government to take decisive steps to identify and bring the perpetrators to justice.
