The prestigious FACETS Sri Lanka International Gem and Jewellery Exhibition 2025 officially commenced today (January 4) at the Cinnamon Grand Hotel in Colombo, graced by the presence of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.
During the opening ceremony, the President toured the exhibition stalls, engaging with exhibitors and viewing an array of exquisite gems and jewellery.
Jointly organized by the Sri Lanka Gem and Jewellery Association (SLGJA), the National Gem and Jewellery Authority, and the Export Development Board (EDB), the event will run for two days, from January 4 to 5.
Celebrating its 31st edition, FACETS Sri Lanka continues to uphold its reputation as Asia’s premier gem and jewellery exhibition. This year, the event has drawn participation from industry representatives across the globe, including China, India, the United States, Europe, and other regions.
Notably, the exhibition features representatives from internationally acclaimed gem and jewellery companies making their inaugural visit to Sri Lanka. Additionally, local dealers from gem-rich regions such as Ratnapura, Elahera, Beruwala, Eheliyagoda, Galle, and Colombo are showcasing their unique offerings.
A primary aim of FACETS Sri Lanka 2025 is to foster global business opportunities for traders, exporters, and industry stakeholders. The event is anticipated to generate over USD 1 billion in export revenue, reflecting the significant economic impact of Sri Lanka’s gem and jewellery sector.
The exhibition serves as a dynamic platform to highlight the diversity and sustainability of the country’s rich gem and jewellery heritage. It also aims to attract a wide range of enthusiasts and professionals from both local and international markets.
The opening ceremony was attended by Minister of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development Sunil Handunnethi, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment, and Tourism Vijitha Herath, Deputy Minister of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development Chathuranga Abeysinghe, ambassadors, and other distinguished guests.
