The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has arrested Renuka Perera, a former Western Provincial Councilor, in connection with allegations of disseminating false information on social media.
The incident is reportedly related to the spread of misinformation concerning the commemorations of national heroes.
In addition to her previous political role, Renuka Perera currently serves as the Governing Secretary of the People’s Front.
