Responding to recent allegations made by Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP Mujibur Rahman, regarding Dialog CEO Hans Wijesuriya’s refusal to provide phone records linked to the investigation of former senior police officer Anura Senanayake and others, the ruling party’s Chief Organizer, Minister Nalinda Jayatissa, clarified that the data in question has already been made available to investigating officers.
MP Mujibur Rahman accused Dialog Axiata of withholding crucial phone records during the Yahapalana government’s investigation into the alleged murder of rugby player Wasim Thajudeen. “The investigations were stalled because Dialog refused to produce the phone data of Anura Senanayake and other individuals,” Rahman claimed, adding, “Hans Wijesuriya, the CEO of Dialog at the time, has now been appointed as a presidential advisor on digital technology development.”
Addressing these claims, Minister Jayatissa countered that the necessary data related to the case had indeed been received by law enforcement authorities. He assured that the investigation into Thajudeen’s death would proceed transparently, and those found guilty would face legal consequences.
The Minister further clarified that Hans Wijesuriya’s role as a presidential advisor is voluntary and unrelated to the ongoing case.
