Accordingly, the Water Supply and Drainage Board says that this new water tariff revision will be implemented from August 21.
The categories covered by this new water tariff revision are the domestic category, government schools, government-aided schools category and government-approved charitable institutions and government hospitals category, excluding prosperous and estate houses.
Based on the price formula, the National Water Supply and Drainage Board has been approved to reduce the water charges of domestic water consumers by 7 per cent, government hospitals by 4.5 per cent, and temples and religious places by 6.3 per cent.
Accordingly, the cabinet approved reducing the water charges by 5.94 per cent as a whole.
In the domestic category, the fee for 0 to 05 units has been reduced by Rs. 10 per unit from Rs. 60 to Rs. 50, and the fee charged for units between 76 to 100 units has been reduced by Rs. 20 from Rs. 270 to Rs. 250 per unit.
The fee of Rs 60 for all units under the Government and Government Aided Schools category and Government Approved Charitable Institutions and Government Hospitals category has been reduced by Rs 5 and the new fee is Rs 55.
Meanwhile, a unit of water used for government hospitals, which used to be 100 rupees per unit, has been reduced by 05 rupees to 95 rupees.
However, no revision has been made in the monthly service charge under this water tariff revision.
