Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) has decided to field a candidate under the Pohottuwa symbol for the upcoming presidential election. This decision was made during today’s politburo meeting, which was attended by 79 of the 82 members.
Out of those present, only 11 members opposed the proposal to present a candidate from Pohottuwa for the presidential election. Additionally, only six members opposed the proposal to take disciplinary action against those who support a candidate outside Pohottuwa.
The decision was finalized following a vote within the politburo. According to party sources, the candidate will be announced in the next few days.
