The oath was taken before the Chief Justice.
As the term of office of Mr. Sanjay Rajaratnam, who served as Attorney General ended on the 26th, the position of Attorney General remained vacant.
Accordingly, the President has taken steps to appoint Senior Deputy Solicitor General Parinda Ranasinghe as Acting Attorney General.
The President’s recommendation for appointing him to the position of Attorney General is to be forwarded to the Legislative Council in the near future.
Mr. Parinda Ranasinghe is the son of Mr. K.A Parinda Ranasinghe, a former Chief Justice of Sri Lanka.
