Air India is scheduled to start flights to Palali Jaffna International Airport next month.
Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) Chairman Priyantha Fernando said in a meeting held on Thursday that Air India intends to start operations from next month to Palali with two flights per week. This aircraft is said to have a capacity of 75-90 seats and its aim is to bring more Indian tourists to the country.
The Sri Lankan authorities had intended to resume international flights to the northern airport from July 1. The airport was first opened for commercial international flights on 17 October 2019 with the landing of an Alliance Air flight from Chennai.
