He received his doctorate in Economics from the University of London and was appointed as the Acting Chairman and Deputy Chairman of the Port Authority during 2016-2017 in addition, he has also worked as a Managing Director of the Sri Lanka Petroleum Corporation.
In addition, he has held many high positions in the Hambantota Port Project as well as in the Civil Aviation Authority. He has conducted many researches related to the subject of economics and statistics and has published many books related to those fields.
