Chanaka Dharmavikrama, President of the Government Radiology Technologists’ Association, says that the CT scan machine worth 14 crore rupees brought to Matara General Hospital has been left in the cargo container terminal of the airport for 2 months now without carrying out the clearance work. (Sri Lanka Latest News)

He points out that the Ministry of Health has not taken steps to release the container containing the machine after the machine was brought to Katunayake Airport by air on December 16, and that it has no idea about the storage condition of these machines, which must be stored under specific humidity and temperature conditions.

He also stated that the airport warehousing fee for the CT scan machine has exceeded twenty lakh rupees.

The CT scan machine currently in the Matara General Hospital is 18 years old, with occasional breakdowns, and only performs a limited number of tests, so the machine that was ready to be taken to the Outpatient Department of the Colombo National Hospital was referred to the Matara General Hospital.
