The annual Katina Pinkama at the Washington DC Buddhist Temple was held recently with the participation of about 300 Buddhist devotees including Sri Lankans.
The chief Sanghanayake of Canada, Panjaloka Nahimi Viharaya, Chief Sanghanayake of North America, Head of Gaithersburg Panjnaseeha Meditation Center, Maharagama Dhammasiri Nahimi, Vaihene (Galla) Dhammasiri Nahimi and Vathuliyadde Ratanaseeha Theros, who were conducting the worship.
A special procession consisting of special sermons, Buddha Puja, and Buddhist cultural items toured the streets and the relic was carried by Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to the United States, Mr. Mahinda Samarasijaha. Lunch was also served to all those present after the Sanghata Dakshina in the afternoon. The Ambassador in Washington and his staff, Buddhist devotees from the Metropolitan and a group of Buddhists from Vietnam have contributed and sponsored this year’s Pinkama
