The Early Warning Center for Natural Disasters of the Department of Meteorology has issued a warning about strong lightning. (Sri Lanka Latest News)
This notification has been issued today (11) at 1 p.m. and is valid till 11.30 tonight.
The announcement states that there is a high possibility of strong lightning with scattered thundershowers in the North Central, Eastern, Central and Sabaragamuwa provinces and Badulla, Vavuniya, Mullaitivu and Mannar districts during the evening or night.
Temporarily strong winds may occur in those areas when there are thunderstorms.
People are requested to take necessary measures to reduce the accidents caused by lightning.
