On the 8th, a proposal was presented to the Mullaitivu Court to request the required funds from the President’s Fund due to the lack of funds for digging up the mass graves found in the Kokkuthuduwai area of Mullaitivu. (Sri Lanka Latest News)

As information has been revealed that this mass grave is a place where a group of LTTE soldiers were buried, the excavation work should be done according to international standards and the DNA related to the bones found. And since it costs a lot of money to carry out investigations like carbon, lawyer VK Niranjan said when the case regarding the Kokkuthuduwai mass grave was heard in the Mullaitivu court that money can be obtained from the presidential fund through the office set up by the government to deal with the missing persons during the war. did

Advocate Niranjan is appearing in this case on behalf of the persons who disappeared during the war and this case was taken up for hearing today by Mullaitivu Magistrate R. Partipan is forthcoming.

As the report related to this case has not been submitted to the court by the department of archeology so far, after the presentation of the report and the rest of the reports before the court, a decision will be taken on whether to request money from the presidential fund for the excavating of the mass grave, said the Mulathivu magistrate.

So far, 18 bones, four firearms and 23 other war equipment parts have been found in the Kokkuthuduwai mass grave.

According to the characteristics present in them, it is assumed that a group of Tiger soldiers have been buried in this place and nothing can be said about it until a formal laboratory test is conducted. However, according to a petition submitted to the court by a group of Tamil politicians objecting to the digging of mass graves according to the normal method, the digging of the Kokkuthuduwai mass grave has had to be stopped according to a court order.
