Initially, 34 people were arrested in connection with this incident that occurred on June 29, and the remaining people were arrested during their interrogation.
This group damaged the homes of the youths and set fire to a motor bicycle belonging to them.
A police officer residing in the village of Chhalveli, who went to restore the situation, was also attacked by the women who came to the attack.
When the villagers tried to attack the police officers who went later to resolve the conflict, the police shot in the air and brought the incident under control.
The two youths who were attacked and the police officer have been admitted to the Jaffna Chhalweli Hospital for treatment.
After the 58 suspects arrested by the police were produced before the Mallakam Court, the Magistrate has ordered that they be remanded until the 12th of July.
There are 39 women among the arrested people and the police in Chhatuveli are still conducting investigations regarding the incident.
