In a Sanskrit sloka it says that Brahmins come from the mouth of the Great Brahma, Kshatriyas come from the wall, Vaishyas come from the thighs, and the micros come from the feet and have not received even a speck of value. This view became a Baman view that took root in India during the Buddha’s lifetime.

We all know that a mother’s love and kindness affects the whole life of a little baby. It especially affects the personality development of a child.
Since there was no mother, the responsibility of bringing up little Kaviraj was assigned to his father and step mother. Due to the poverty of the family, this child was able to study only up to the fifth year scholarship class. After that, this child says goodbye to school life and spends two to three years at home. During this time, Kaviraj went to stay at the house of his relative who lived in Pothupitiya area. In a nearby house, a small child entered the monastic life, and he was known as Seelarathana Podi Hamuduruwan.
The mother of this little monk had to make a phone call to the Chief Monk of the temple where her child was ordained and made the following request.
‘Oh monk, there is a little child who does not go to school. If possible, keep him at the temple…’ This mother made the same request to the monk. Accordingly, through the monk’s elder brother, little Kaviraj was directed to Chithraella Sripadasthan Vihara, where this Chief monk was staying.
Little Kaviraj came to the temple and it took some time. In the morning, Kaviraj got to see the rituals performed for Buddha. All what he heard were Dhamma matters. It was because of this good association that Kaviraj turned to the path of Dhamma. This story conveys a good example that good company is extremely important for a child if they want to be on the right path.
Little Kaviraj’s mind was strongly attracted to Dharma by listening to the Dharma morning and evening and by practicing the rituals. He decided to join the monastic life. He felt the urge to shorten this never-ending journey of birth and death. The respected monks of the temple worked on February 20 to fulfil his great expectation. His priestly name is Pujya Pussella Kusaladhamma thero. This little novice is currently receiving education at Sri Dharmajnana Pirivena.
Many children in today’s society become helpless when those children lose love, kindness and security. It has become a common sight today that even many children with parents have gone astray and are addicted to various drugs. Among such sad events that happen when parents abandon their children, Kusaladhamma Podi’s life is an example of all of them.
Even Siddhartha ‘Thausa’ started searching for the truth because he felt that he should find a way out of the heart-burning afflictions. Even though he left the layman’s house thinking like this, it took time to get on the right path. He decided that there is no point in pursuing childish desires in this life. He realized that the cause of all suffering is lust for lust. He realized with clear wisdom that the cause of craving is ignorance, and the liberation of the mind from ignorance is Nirvana. Thousands and millions of poor people respect that supreme wisdom of Buddha and strive to understand that religion. Gather Seela – Samadhi – Prajna guna.
Among the ones who lost, who do not know any Dhamma dwell all over the world, among the handful of noble monks who are searching for the absolute truth in the world, this Kusaladhamma thero too is included today. Regardless of the race, religion and caste of their birth, these little novices have already realized that the truth lies in the Buddha’s ten teachings.
