A senior health officer of Kalutara said that there has been an increase in leprosy patients in Kalutara district, and leprosy patients have been reported from several medical officer’s offices.
It is said that patients are being reported from many other health medical offices including Panadura, Wadduwa and Horana.
Health sources also state that the identified patients have been referred for medical treatment to protect their privacy.
In order to inform the community in this regard, the Kalutara Regional Health Medical Officers Office has arranged to call a special meeting.
Commenting on this, a senior medical spokesperson stated that a certain number of sick families are reported. That separate health inspectors have been appointed to investigate such patients.
The spokesman said that if you see spots on the skin surface that cannot be felt, you should go to a government hospital as soon as possible and Nittawa can cure leprosy.
