08 people have been admitted to the Colombo National Hospital due to a shooting near Gate 06 of Colombo Port.
The police said that the shooting was done by a private security officer working at a road development site.
A resident of Blumenthal Estate was injured in the shooting.
It is reported that there are three women among them.
A heated situation has arisen when a group of villagers came there to interrogate two people who had come to steal iron from the relevant road development site of the port near the 06th gate of Colombo port.
The police said that another private officer shot the person after going to grab a firearm from the private security unit.
The police have started further investigations into the incident.
