The police say that a woman was raped and killed in a house in Mihintalea area.
Yesterday afternoon (29) the incident was reported from Doramadalawa area of Mihintalea police domain.
The investigation has revealed that the deceased was staying at home with her mother and while the mother had gone to work in a nearby house, a person residing in a nearby village came to the house and raped and killed the woman in question.
The deceased is 51-year-old 03rd stage, a resident of Doramadalawa area.
The 47-year-old suspect who committed the murder has been arrested and the Mihintalea police are conducting further investigations.
