Sajith’s 14 questions about Telecom-Lanka Hospital which are for sale! Will the government respond? VIDEO
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

It has been reported that the State Enterprise Reform Unit established under the Ministry of Finance, Economic Stabilization and National Policy has proposed to sell off the government’s share ownership in Sri Lanka Telecom PLC and Lanka Hospitals PLC, and it has been approved by the Cabinet of Ministers.

Due to that situation, I expect specific answers and explanations from the government considering the following issues as issues of national importance.

!.Who has decided to sell the shares of Sri Lanka Telecom PLC (Sri Lanka Telecom PLC) in which the Treasury holds 49.50% of the issued share capital?

2. On what basis was that decision taken?

3.Will Sri Lanka Telecom plc present the annual profit after tax (Profit after Tax) obtained from the year 2012 to 2022 to this council?

4.During those 10 years, how much has Sri Lanka Telecom plc paid annually as dividends to the exchequer for its share ownership?

5.Will you explain to this House how the revenue received from Telecom Plc will be received from now on?

6.How much tax has Sri Lanka Telecom plc paid to the government in those 10 years?

7.Can the government confirm that because of the sale of the shares of Sri Lanka Telecom PLC and its controlled companies, which owns many assets related to highly sensitive data systems including the secret information system of the country, the risk of ownership of those companies by foreign companies is not a threat to national security?

8.Who has decided to sell those shares of Lanka Hospitals PLC (Lanka Hospitals PLC) in which the Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation owns 51.34% of the share capital on behalf of the government?

9.On what basis was that decision taken?

10.Will Lanka Hospitals plc present the annual profit after tax obtained from 2012 to 2022 to this council?

11.During those 10 years, how much has Lanka Hospitals plc paid to the exchequer annually as dividends for share ownership?

12.How much tax has Lanka Hospitals plc paid to the government in those 10 years?

13.The government does not try to develop State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) in a way that is profitable and creates favorable investment opportunities for the country through Sovereign Wealth Fund Management, such as Malaysia’s Khazanah Nasional Berhad and Singapore’s Temasek Holdings Limited. Why? If so, will the program be revealed?

14.Is the sale of public assets the only strategy available to the State Enterprise Reform Unit of the current government’s Ministry of Finance or other economic experts and consultants to develop public enterprises and increase public revenue?
