Mr. Ratnajeevan Hoole, a former member of the Election Commission, said that President Ranil Wickramasinghe must allocate money to conduct the local government elections.
Speaking about democracy, Mr. Wickramasinghe said that it is a crime not to provide money for the election.
However, there have been accusations that the authorities have planned to postpone the election through the delimitation committee appointed by the former chairman of the Election Commission, Mr. Mahinda Deshapriya.
