The National Elections Commission emphasizes that reports of a schism in the commission are false, and that all members of the commission agree on holding the LG elections.
This was stated by its chairman, attorney at law Nimal Punchihewa, during a press conference held today (11) afternoon.
The chairman also said that he plans to call the Secretary of Public Administration to the Election Commission to ask about the circular he sent out to stop accepting money, which is an election deposit.
Furthermore, the Election Commission is carrying out various election-related activities at the time the Commission has announced an election.
Mr. Nimal Punchihewa, Chairman of the National Election Commission, stated that all members of the commission have agreed and signed the gazette calling for nominations.
