A vote was taken in Parliament this afternoon (24) to approve the budget of the Ministry of Defense.
Gajendra Kumar Ponnambalam Member of Parliament requested the Speaker to allow a voting on the expenditure heading.
There were 91 votes in favor and 10 votes against.
Members of the Tamil National Alliance voted against the budget.
At the time of polling, none of the members of Samagi Jana Balawegaya, National Jana Balawegaya and Sri Lanka Freedom Party were present in the House.
Accordingly, the Speaker informed the Parliament that the budget was passed with amendments.
