It has been reported that Ranil Wickremesinghe, leader of the United National Party (UNP), has directed the party’s management committee to prepare for the upcoming general election using the elephant symbol. This announcement was made during an emergency meeting convened after the presidential election results were declared on the 22nd.
During the meeting, Wickremesinghe emphasized the importance of including five newcomers in the nomination preparations for each district across the country. The committee also analyzed the presidential election results, noting that not using the elephant symbol could hinder their chances of electoral success.
